The Old Phone Box, Minterne Magna - Fine Art Print

£45.00 - £75.00

2026

‘Some objects seem to linger quietly between memory and disappearance.’

This piece was inspired by an old red phone box standing along a back road in Minterne Magna, a route deeply familiar to me and closely tied to many shared walks through the surrounding countryside. The road itself eventually leads toward the fields and hills where Rhiannon and I often spend evenings together, walking slowly, talking, and returning to the same quiet places over time.

What moved me most about the phone box was its condition. Weathered, neglected, and gradually fading into the landscape around it, it felt almost like a fossil from another age, a small remnant of a slower and perhaps more connected world still quietly surviving at the edge of modern life.

Created using watercolour, fountain ink, and oil pastel, I wanted the piece to retain a feeling of softness and fragility. The loose lines and open areas within the composition allowed the structure to feel partially absorbed back into the surrounding landscape, as though nature itself was slowly reclaiming it over time.
