South Street, Bridport - Fine Art Print

£45.00 - £75.00

2025

‘Some objects quietly outlive the worlds they were created for.’

This piece was inspired by a traditional red phone box discovered along South Street in Bridport during an evening walk through the town. After moving through the noise and energy of a busy street market, coming across this quiet corner felt strangely peaceful and reflective, almost as though time had briefly slowed around it.

What immediately drew me in was the intensity of the red against the softer evening light. The colour seemed to bleed outward into the surrounding atmosphere, transforming the phone box from a simple object into something far more symbolic and emotionally present within the scene.

Created using watercolour, dip-pen ink, and expressive layered mark-making, I wanted the piece to retain a sense of looseness and calm. Rather than focusing purely on realism, I became more interested in preserving the atmosphere of that moment, the stillness after movement, and the quiet character of this increasingly rare part of British streetscape.
