‘Some places arrive all at once, not quietly, but in a rush of colour, movement, and feeling.’

This piece was inspired by our first visit to Lyme Regis, a town that immediately felt full of creativity, atmosphere, and seaside charm. Walking through Bridge Street for the first time, I felt completely absorbed by the character of the place, from the winding architecture to the energy of the galleries, cafés, and small independent spaces hidden throughout the town.

Shortly after arriving, we visited a local gallery, and I found myself deeply inspired by the artwork we encountered there. Rather than simply painting the street itself, I wanted this piece to express the creative energy and emotional excitement I felt moving through Lyme Regis for the first time.

Created using dip-pen ink, watercolour, and oil pastel, the process became highly intuitive and expressive. I allowed the marks, colours, and lines to build instinctively across the surface, almost layering emotion and atmosphere directly over the street scene itself. The piece gradually became less about architectural accuracy and more about capturing sensation, inspiration, and movement.

Prints are supplied mounted with backing board and protected in a clear sleeve. They are shipped flat in a rigid board-backed mailer.
