Rock Point Inn, Lyme Regis - Fine Art Print

£45.00 - £75.00

2025

‘Seaside towns seem to exist in a constant state of movement, light, and noise.’

This piece looks down toward the Rock Point Inn in Lyme Regis from Broad Street, capturing the energy and atmosphere of one of the town’s busiest areas near the shoreline. What fascinated me most was the collision of elements within the scene, tourists moving through the streets, shifting evening light, layered architecture, and the constant movement that seems to define seaside towns during busy periods.

The Rock Point Inn itself felt almost immovable within all of this activity, standing prominently against the surrounding motion and atmosphere. I wanted the painting to preserve both the solidity of the building and the restless energy unfolding around it.

Created using dip-pen ink, watercolour, oil pastel, and expressive layered mark-making, the piece evolved instinctively and rapidly. Rather than focusing on controlled representation, I allowed the lines, colours, and textures to overlap and collide naturally, reflecting the sensory intensity of the scene itself.
