‘Some places seem to carry imagination within their walls.’

This piece was inspired by Little Preppers on Cheap Street in Sherborne, a charming nursery building that caught my attention one morning whilst walking through the town. The early light seemed to flood the architecture with warmth and movement, transforming the building into something almost playful and alive.

What fascinated me most was the energy surrounding the place. Knowing it was filled with young children brought a completely different emotional atmosphere to the scene. I wanted the painting to reflect not only the architecture itself, but also the imagination, curiosity, and joyful unpredictability associated with childhood creativity.

Created using watercolour, fountain ink, and oil pastel, I allowed the marks and colours to behave more freely and intuitively than in some of my other architectural pieces. The layered scribbles, bright accents, and loose flowing lines became an important part of capturing the spirit of the building, almost as though the piece itself had been influenced by the energetic minds working and playing inside.

Printed as a high-quality giclée reproduction on superior Tintoretto Gesso art paper.

Prints are supplied mounted with backing board and protected in a clear sleeve. They are shipped flat in a rigid board-backed mailer.
